Deseret News & KSL 5 Television Sterling Scholar Awards
- Seniors   Categories are English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Foreign Language, Computer Technology, Trade and Technical Education, Family & Consumer Sciences, Business and Marketing, Speech/Drama, Visual Arts, Music and Dance. School winners will go on to the regional competition to be held April.

October 2 - Wendy's High School Heisman Seniors Athletes that have at least a 3.0 GPA and participate in at least one school sponsored sport.  First 40,000 applicants will receive a gift card from Wendy's. A boy and girl will be selected from each high school.  Award amount varies.  Applications will be accepted now until October 2, 2013.  Apply online

October 6 - AES Engineering Scholarship - Seniors - a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluated the essays that are submitted.  Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.  You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. Visit online

October 25 – Utah State Office of Education Centennial Scholarship for Early Graduation Certificate - Juniors and Seniors A partial scholarship program for high school students who graduate early from high school and enroll within one calendar year in an eligible Utah post-secondary institution full time. .  Apply online

October 19 - Young Arts Scholarship - 10-12  -This is a great opportunity for students interested in the arts.  Students, grades 10 to 12 or ages 15 to 18, visit for details on the application requirements for each discipline and the application process.

October 25 -  Horatio Alger Scholarship- Seniors For those students who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Letter of support, financial need, minimum GPA 2.0 $5,000-$20,000 Apply online

October 25 – Student Government – Junior and Senior Class elected officers Senate Youth competition $5,000 and trip to Washington D.C.  To apply you will need to contact the following individual:

October 26 – Ron Brown Scholar Program African American seniors who excel academically, show leadership potential and are involved in community. Deadlines are November 1st and Jan 9th, 2010. For Seniors that are planning on attending a four year college or university. Award amount up to $40,000 Applications available online

October 30 - HOBY/Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Sophomores interested in a leadership seminar held at Aspen Grove, May 12-14th 2011 should apply at the counseling office with Mr. Walker.  Visit for more information.  There is a $150 fee to attend this seminar.

October 31 - Wells Fargo Collegesteps - Sign up for the College Steps program which entitles the student to information about college preparation, college  entrance exams, how to choice a school and financing a college education.  After signing up, students are entered into a drawing each month.  Award amount 20 @ $1,000 scholarships.  Deadline Oct 31, Nov 30, Dec 31, Jan 31, Feb 28, Mar 31, Apr 30, May 30.  Apply online at

October 31 - Coca-Cola Scholarship Seniors  For students who demonstrated leadership, commitment to community and academic achievement. 3.0 minimum GPA. Applications are available only online September 1st – October 31st Four year college scholarship. $10,000-$20,000 Apply online  SSHS code 450-145.

October 31 - NCWIT Award (Women in Computing) - HS age -  The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Awardees are selected for their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history, and plans for post-secondary education. The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing offers both a national and local "affiliate" competitions to generate support and visibility for women's participation in communities nationwide..Apply online
